The unbeaten streaks continue! Hamilton High School from Chandler, Arizona, and Loyola Academy from Wilmette, Illinois, claimed their seventh straight victories, while the Kent School from Connecticut has started the 2011 season 3-0. All three schools’ varsity American football programs will open their 2012 season in Dublin, Ireland next August.
Teams from Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin will play in three doubleheader matches staged in three different stadiums in Dublin, making up the Global Ireland Football Tournament on Friday, August 31. The following day, the University of Notre Dame and U.S. Naval Academy clash at the city’s Aviva Stadium on Saturday, September 1.
Loyola Academy crushed Fenwick 47-7 to remain undefeated. Hamilton High School beat Desert Vista 35-10 to improve to 7-0. Kent School claimed their third victory of the season with an offensive explosion overpowering Brunswick 53-12.
Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, Arizona) also recorded a win, beating Shadow Mountain 35-14 to improve to 3-4 and 2-2 in conference play.
Dublin-bound Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, CA) and Dallas Jesuit (Dallas, TX) both suffered defeats, while Father Judge (Phildelphia, PA) did not play last weekend.
At the collegiate level, John Carroll University won their third straight Ohio Athletic Conference game by defeating Wilmington College of Ohio 44-7. It was the first time the Blue Streaks have won at Wilmington since 2005. Their Dublin opponent St Norbert College went down 48-34 to Illinois College.
