About Hamilton High School football, Chandler, AZ:
Coach Belles took over the Hamilton High School football program in 2006, and during his five seasons with the Huskies has led the team to four state championships and one semi-final appearance in 2007. The Huskies were also region champions all five seasons. In 2006, Belles was elected as the Arizona 5A Coach of the Year and after the 2010 season was voted the 24-7football.com Coach of the Year. Prior to Hamilton, Coach Belles was the head coach at Mountain Ridge High School from 2000-2005 and appeared in one state final game vs. Hamilton. He was also the head coach at Desert Mountain High School and a coach fro St. Mary’s High School.
Belles attended St. Mary’s High School from 1982-1985 and as starting quarterback for the Knights; he led the team to a state championship in 1984 and was selected as the Arizona High School Player of the Year. He played a variety of positions at the University of Notre Dame – quarterback, running back and wide receiver – under legendary coach Lou Holtz. He was also a member of Notre Dame’s last National Championship team in 1988. He also played in Europe for the Revenna Chiefs in 1991 and later moved on to the Arena Football Leagues’ Arizona Rattlers in 1992.
