About Loyola Academy, Wilmette, Illinois:
Loyola Academy, established 101 years ago, is the nation’s largest Jesuit college preparatory school, with 2,000 students enrolled annually and a global network of nearly 25,000 alumni. The school’s mission is firmly rooted in the Jesuit tradition of education established more than 450 years ago by St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus: to form well-rounded young people who are religious, intellectually competent, physically fit, loving, open to growth and committed to doing justice.
The Loyola Academy football program has a long and rich tradition having captured the City Championship in 1965, 1966 and 1969. Since joining the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) in 1974, the school has competed against the largest schools in state reaching the semi-finals in 1975, 1990 and 1991; finished second in 1992; and won the IHSA 6A State Championship in 1993. Under the helm of Coach John Holecek, Loyola Academy won the Chicago Catholic League championship in 2010 and the Prep Bowl Championship in 2008. Holecek was an NFL linebacker from 1995-2002, playing most of his professional career for the Buffalo Bills.
